Artists Profile
Brenda began her pursuit of art six years ago and quickly met with success. She loves watercolor, acrylics, nature printing,
Gyotaku, photography -- and sometimes she combines them all into collage. Her work has been purchased both nationally and
internationally. The second generation Floridian recently retired after a 30-year career as an English teacher at Manatee
High School. Now she devotes as much time as possible to her art.
She was fortunate to have been taught by the best, including Maxine Masterfield. Brenda took Maxine's experimental watercolor
workshop, which broadened her creative horizons. Later she learned Gyotaku (fish printing) from Heather Fortner, who also taught
her nature printing on an etching press. When Heather bought a new press, Brenda bought her old one!
Most everything she learned about her art has been from the two aforementioned artists, plus some other classes and reading many,
many books and magazines. The artist is also an accomplished photographer. She has been accepted into the Selby Photography
Exhibition the past three years and had work in the Rome (Ga.) Coterie in 2009.
