Artists Profile
Phil Jensen strives for simplicity in his photographs while conveying the beauty and emotions of the natural world. He combines
his love of fine art photography with his passion for the outdoors, travel and the water to create images of nature, wildlife
and the marine environment. An occasional historical subject can also be found in his body of work.
"I endeavor to record subjects as art rather than simply documenting them. I look for patterns and textures and small and
close-up details," he relates. "Photography is all about light, so I spend time capturing those special situations." He has
photographed his way throughout the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Hawaii and the Galapagos Islands.
His love of photography blossomed in high school, but took a back seat during his successful his 35-year career as owner of
several property and casualty insurance agencies. In recent years, he has returned to photography in earnest. Phil'’s work has
been published in numerous magazines and has earned him many awards in art exhibitions.
His photographs have also been published in two beautiful photography "coffee table" books entitled "Natural Florida and Western
North Carolina." Phil provides photographs for many businesses, individuals and organization, including state parks and the U.S.
National Park Service. His images hang in commercial and private art collections throughout the USA and Canada.
Phil'’s photographs are available for sale at Island Gallery West and the Artist Guild of Anna Maria Island in Holmes Beach,
Florida. His work is also represented by Photographers Direct, a photography stock house in London, England and Vancouver,
British Columbia.
