Artists Profile
Originally from Bolivia South America, I grew up in Michigan in a home immersed in art. For as long as I can remember, both my parents have created art --painting, sculpture, furniture, stained glass, jewelry. After a 15 year career as registered dietitian, I stayed home to raise our children. It was during this time I had the opportunity to explore my genetically grounded love of color, texture and design, by learning how to make glass beads on a torch. Although I was unable to continue lamp working, that was the beginning of my journey designing handcrafted jewelry.
I am drawn to the colors and designs in glass, the textures and richness of natural stones, and the intricate work of silver artisans worldwide. Each piece of jewelry I make is a creative process; seldom preplanned. I select components I am drawn to and experiment with colors, textures and design until I achieve an interesting and visually appealing piece. I want my one-of-a-kind designs to be a bit impetuous, a touch classical and fun to wear.
