Artists Profile
An architect in her native Colombia, Maitte had always felt a need for artistic expression. Although her career gave her many rewards, she felt she needed more of a creative outlet. She found that in painting. What started as just a hobby during her school years began evolving into a serious pursuit -- a way to express her emotions and feelings that were evoked by particular scenes and events. While she likes to experiment with different mediums and techniques, she found the constant challenge of watercolors particularly interesting. Each new project became an adventure in which the painting took on a life of its own, shaped by her own feelings and responses from others.
A Florida resident for more than ten years now, Maitte finds that the amazing beauty of the Keys and the West Coast of Florida and the uniqueness of the natural beauty and people living there make for an invaluable fountain of inspiration for her realistic paintings. Her work has earned her public acclaim and numerous awards. She has studied with locally and internationally known artists and is a member of the Florida Watercolor Society, the Florida Keys Watercolor Society and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society.
